Queer Cultural Archives

Preserving our History: Permanently

The last 70 years has seen the greatest expansion of LGBTQIA+ human rights in recorded history.

Time is running out to record firsthand accounts

  • Queer history needs to be preserved and passed to future generations.

  • LGBTQIA+ history is manipulated and misrepresented by government, media, and those that seek to undermine the human rights movement.

  • Stories from historically peripheral communities are often silenced, diluted, and rewritten.

There is a Problem

We Will Find Solutions

Queer history demonstrates how to develop systems of

safety, dignity, and equity.

LGBTQIA+ contributions to culture and society must be recorded and recognized.

  • The Queer Cultural Archives will curate stories and digital artifacts from pivotal moments in LGBTQIA+ history from existing archives and directly from those who lived them.

  • Current and future generations will be empowered by viewing our history through the lens of those who led movements, experienced meteoric progress, and those left behind.

  • Curation and cataloging will be done in partnership with the myriad of existing organizations.

  • We will archive a holistic record that cannot be redacted or rewritten over time. Technically, this can be accomplished by leveraging cutting edge data technology.
